Events During The California Rodeo Salinas Big Week
Alan Jackson Concert
The Alan Jackson Concert is on July 21 after the third California Rodeo Performance You can buy tickets at the You can buy tickets at the box office. General Admission tickets are $35.00 and the VIP tickets are allready sold out so if you want to see Alan Jackson you should get your tickets soon as those too could sell out. The Alan Jackson Concert gates will open at 6:30 and the music will start at 7:30 pm. including his latest hit "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore." It's really nice to see Salinas getting back into the live music scene again over the last couple of years they have had several live concerts at this location and all have been successful.
Kiddie Kapers Parade
Kiddie Kapers is one of my favorite events. It's a parade of for and by children. There are several different classes from playground floats to your cowboys and cowgirls. There has to be cowboys right it's big week. There's a class for costumed kids and pets. So dress up your little one and catch the dog and dress him up too and bring them out to the parade. There are dance teams drill teams and one of my favorites rolling riders. Basically rolling riders if if it can roll on wheels it goes. So bikes wagons strollers whatever you can imagine on wheels and don't forget to dress up it's a parade after all.
Kiddie Kapers is Saturday July 14 at 6:30 P.M. and it's free
The Colmo Parade
The Colmo Parade will immediately follow the Kiddie Kapars Parade. If you are going to watch either or both events get to downtown early and secure your seats along the route early as the good seats go fast. Bring a little dinner and some drinks and settle in for the nights festivities. Non Alcoholic drinks only The Colmo parade was brought back a couple of year ago for one year during the anniversary of the parade. It turned into a really great event and it's been brought back the two years since so hopefully it becomes a yearly tradition again. The Colmo parade just seems to be part of big week again I wonder why they ever stopped having it so long ago? Probably money at the time who knows.
Stick Horse Racing At The Rodeo
So, every year you see these cute little kids racing with their stick horses during the main rodeo event. You always wonder how do I get my little one signed up for that? They are sure to be the fastest stick horse racer in the area. Here's the scoop.
Bring your 3 to 8 year old child to the kiddie Corral at 4P.M. on July 19. They must bring their own Stickhorse. Children will be divided into age groups of 3-4 5-6 7-8 year olds. The winner in each group will receive a silver buckle and everyone who participates gets something.
